Unlike ordinary lenses, telecentric lenses use an aperture diaphragm to ensure that the principal rays enter the image plane parallel to the optical axis. This means that regardless of how the subject moves within the depth of field (as long as it does not exceed the depth of field limits), the magnification remains virtually constant.

In what situations is it recommended to use a telecentric lens?

1. Workpieces with stepped profiles or significant variations in thickness: such as screws, washers, and connector pins.

2. Applications requiring high-precision positioning: such as semiconductor wafer mounting and LCD panel alignment.

3. Measurements sensitive to optical distortion: such as micro gears with diameters of 0.5 mm or less.
