Difficulty in measuring thickness of multilayer glass:

Thickness measurement of multilayer glass structures has always been a challenging task. Traditional methods, such as micrometers and capacitive sensors, have obvious limitations when measuring multi-layered glass. These methods are often difficult to accurately separate the thickness of each layer of glass and are susceptible to interference from environmental factors, resulting in insufficient measurement accuracy. In addition, for glass products with special shapes or multi-layer structures, traditional methods are even more difficult to perform.

Principle of measurement of multilayer glass thickness by spectral confocal displacement sensors:

A spectral confocal sensor is a high-precision device that utilizes the spectral focusing principle for distance measurement. It works by emitting a beam of broad-spectrum light from a light source, which is focused onto the sample surface after passing through a specific lens set. Different wavelengths of light focus at different positions, and by measuring the change in the wavelength of the reflected light, the positional information of the sample surface can be accurately calculated.

When measuring the thickness of multilayer glass, the spectral confocal sensor emits a broad spectrum of light into the glass and receives light signals reflected back from each layer of the glass. As different wavelengths of light have different refractive indices in the glass, they form focusing points at different depths. The sensor detects the differences in the positions of these focusing points and, in combination with known refractive index data, calculates the exact thickness of each layer of glass.

Spectral Confocal Displacement Sensor Measures Multilayer Glass Thickness Advantages:

1、High accuracy: Spectral confocal sensors are capable of achieving nanometer-level measurement accuracy, which is particularly suitable for accurate measurement of the thickness of transparent materials such as multi-layer glass. This high-precision measurement helps to ensure product quality and consistency, to meet the needs of modern industry for high-precision measurement.

2、Non-Contact Measurement: The use of spectral confocal sensors for non-contact measurement avoids damage or contamination of the measured object. This is particularly important for multi-layer glass, such as fragile and high surface quality requirements of the material.

3、Fast Response: Spectral confocal sensors can realize high-speed data acquisition and processing, greatly improving production efficiency. This can significantly shorten the measurement cycle and improve production efficiency for mass-produced multi-layer glass products.

4、A wide range of applicability: spectral confocal sensor is not only applicable to the measurement of flat surfaces, but also can effectively measure the complex geometry of the glass products. In addition, it can also penetrate the coating for thickness detection of the underlying material, providing more possibilities for the measurement of multi-layer glass structures.
